A Visual Journey
Painting is my way of reflecting. I find great satisfaction in exploring the shape of things with a brush in my hand. The way people and objects occur in different settings, fascinate me. I draw and paint to unearth meaning. The art I create energizes and anchors me.
I grew up traveling with my father, a seafaring Captain. My family lived in many different countries, allowing me to be immersed in different cultures, from Europe to Africa, through Israel. My artistic view is shaped through these varying eclectic experiences. I studied Fine Art and Graphic design at the Johannesburg Art School in South Africa. In my work I embrace quirky perspectives, capture human emotions while layering contrasting patterns. I often find my inspiration in my travels, films and poetry.
Most of my work is in acrylic on canvas. My large painting on glass features permanently on the corner of Second Street & Central Avenue in Highland Park, Illinois. My work graced the cover of the East on Central annual publication.
Since 2007 I’ve had many solo exhibitions, and have taken part in several group shows and Fairs in the United States, Canada, France and Bulgaria. I am an active member of the ARC Gallery cooperative, and exhibit often with the Artmakers North Group and Dialogue Chicago in the USA.
